Cordmill

History

Between 1500 and 1700 a toy called the Nut Mill featured in many paintings, including the famous “Children’s Games” by Pieter Breughel, painted in 1562.

The Cord Mill is an 18th century version of that toy.  The repeated pulling and slackening on the cord initiates and continues the back and forth rotation of the blades due to the flywheel effect and centrifugal force.
